THIS IS AN AWESOME ROCK SHOW is a feature documentary film about a group of adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) who set out to perform an epic rock concert inspired by Talking Heads music at a world-class music venue called Revolution Hall in Portland, Oregon. The documentary follows their journey from the very first day of rehearsal all the way to the concert stage, where they performed Stop Making Sense, their interpretation of the Talking Heads classic album in front of a packed audience.

The people in this documentary don’t want to inspire you.

THEY WANT TO ROCK YOU.

THE STORY

The first rehearsal is in June, with the big performance three months away at the end of August. The clock is ticking as the cast tries to learn to sing the songs, choreograph the show, and play the music on ipads along with a live band. And these performers have never done anything this epic before. Will they be ready? Will people actually buy tickets to see them perform? Will the performers be taken seriously?

The documentary follows their initial rehearsals at a community school theater to the rock venue as they dare to try something new. You’ll get a candid, behind the scenes look at these performers, their personal lives and their families, as they rally together to make the concert happen.
